Rate Manager

Rate Manager allows you to price different coverage scenarios with the speed of Real-Time Rating and provides your brokerage with tools to revise policy and risk details easily. When a client or prospect seeks comparative pricing, Rate Manager can assist you in delivering a fast and competitive quote.

Note: Rate Manager is currently available for use with Homeowners and Personal Auto policy types.

The best practice for prospects is to create a client and a policy for the policy type you want to quote. You must create the Client Detail to associate the activities and any attachments received from your carriers. You can create a policy with an applicable prefill to save time and keystrokes.

Note: Rate Manager is only available through Real-Time, which requires a Client Detail for access. For an existing client, you can choose to quote an existing policy or create a policy with an applicable prefill.

  1. From the Real-Time Interface screen, select Rate Manager.
  2. Change the policies and/or columns that display in the list if necessary.
  3. Select the policy or line of business you want to quote.
  4. You can change the default company contract number or IBC code for your session if necessary (if the company has multiple contract numbers or IBC codes configured).
  5. Click Go.
  6. Specify whether you are starting from an existing policy, starting a policy from scratch using an application prefill, or resuming a previous quoting session.

  7. Complete any policy information you want considered in your quote, and then submit the policy. While receiving your results, you can make any coverage, deductible, or any other changes, and resubmit the policy based on the new criteria.

  8. If you started with an existing policy, you can choose to renew or update/endorse that policy, or create a new policy. If starting a policy within Rate Manager, you can only create a new policy on that client.

  9. Results can be attached to the client. You can also set up activities for each carrier in order to track successfully and unsuccessfully writing the business. Additionally, you can have one generic activity for the entire Rate Manager session.
Note:  Activities are assigned in Configure > Real-Time > Rate Manager.

  10. If the carrier you have accepted a quote from provides round-trip Rating, then the policy will be updated with the coverage details sent by the carrier and the risk details you entered.

Additionally, some carriers enable policies to be bound or submitted through Real-Time.
