Link Groups Configuration

Link Groups Configuration allows you to add a single link to display in the Links options bar and menubar for a group of employees.

Note: This article contains printing instructions that are only applicable if Applied Epic is installed locally on your computer. If you access Epic through a web browser such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge, you cannot print directly from within the system. See Printing for more information about the printing capabilities available from Epic Browser. All other steps in this article are applicable to both methods of accessing Epic unless stated otherwise.

From the Home screen, do one of the following:
- Click Configure on the navigation panel.
- Click the down arrow next to Home on the menubar and select Configure.
- Click Areas > Configure on the menubar.

From any other area of the program, do one of the following:

- Click the down arrow to the right of the Home options bar button and select Configure.
- Click Home > Configure on the menubar. The Configure screen displays.

Click Links on the navigation panel or Areas > Links on the menubar.
Click the Group option beneath the navigation button.

You can do the following from here:

Add a Link Group
1. Do one of the following:
  - Click the Add button to the left of the list.
  - Click New > Link on the options bar.
  - Click File > New > Link on the menubar.
  - Press [Insert] on your keyboard.
2. Enter a Name for the new group.
3. Opt to include this link for All login IDs or for Selected employees or security groups.
  
  If you choose Selected, click the Add button in the Members section.
  
  Click the appropriate radio button on the Add Members pop-up window:
  - Individual Employees
    The Add Members pop-up window displays. Filter the list of employees that displays if necessary.
    
    Use the search bar above the list to specify the employees that you want to see.
    
    These are the choices in the first dropdown menu:
    
    Department
    
    Job Title
    
    Lookup Code
    
    Name
    
    Structure
    
    The choices available in the second dropdown menu vary, depending on the selection you made in the first dropdown.
    
    Equals: Enter the search criterion (e.g., the full department or name) in the field to the right, or select the correct date from the dropdown calendar (if applicable). Click Find.
    
    Contains: Enter at least one letter of the search criterion (e.g., part of the lookup code or name) in the field to the right. Click Find.
    
    Select the checkbox next to each member to be included in this group, or click Select All in the Available Employees header to choose all of the employees that are listed in the window.
    
    Click Finish or press [Enter] if you are finished.
    
    To add more employees to the group, click Add and repeat the steps.
    
    Click Cancel to close the screen without adding any members to the group.
  - Security Groups
    Select the checkbox for any security groups to include in the link group.
    
    Click Finish or press [Enter].
To remove a member or security group from the group, click to highlight the desired entity and then click the Delete button to the left of the list.
1. To add links to the group members' Links list, click the Add button in the Links section.
  
  The Add Links pop-up window displays. Filter the list of links that display if you wish.
  
  To display links that are associated with a specific security group, make a selection in the Group dropdown menu.
Click the checkbox for each link to be added to the link group, or click Select All in the Available Links header to choose select all of the checkboxes in the list.

Click Finish or press [Enter] to add the links.

To remove a link, click the desired item in the Links list and click the Delete button to the left.
Edit a Link Group
1. Click to highlight the group that you wish to revise in the list.
2. Do one of the following:
  - Click the Edit button to the left of the list.
  - Click File > Open on the menubar.
  - Double click the link.
  - Press [Enter].
3. Optionally amend the group Name.
4. Opt to include this link for All members or for Selected employees or security groups.
  
  If you choose Selected, click the Add button in the Members section.
  
  Click the appropriate radio button on the Add Members pop-up window:
  - Individual Employees
    The Add Members pop-up window displays. Filter the list of employees that displays if you wish.
    
    If you wish to narrow the list of employees in the list, use the search bar above the list to specify the employees that you want to see.
    
    These are the choices in the first dropdown menu:
    
    Department
    
    Job Title
    
    Lookup Code
    
    Name
    
    Structure
    
    The choices available in the second dropdown menu vary, depending on the selection you made in the first dropdown.

  - Security Groups
    Select the checkbox for any security groups to include in the link group.
    
    Click Finish or press [Enter].

  Click Finish or press [Enter] to add the links.

  To display links that are associated with a specific security group, make a selection in the Group dropdown menu.
Delete a Link Group
1. Click to highlight the group that you wish to delete in the list.
2. Do one of the following:
  - Click the Delete button to the left of the list.
  - Click File > Delete on the menubar.
  - Press [Delete] on your keyboard.
3. You are prompted: "Do you wish to delete this record?" Click Yes.
Print the List of Link Groups
1. To print the links list, do one of the following:
2. - Click the Print button to the left of the list.
  - Click Print > Listview on the options bar.
  - Click File > Print > Listview on the menubar.
