Profit Center Configuration

The profit center level is defined at the line. There is a minimum of one profit center installed in Epic. Profit Centers are assigned to Income Statement accounts (income/expenses). In Epic’s hierarchy of structure, profit centers come below the department level. A profit center can represent several different things:  

• A program for which the agency wishes to monitor profitability (e.g., certain campaigns within the benefits department)

• A group of people (team) whose profitability the agency wishes to monitor

• An individual producer or employee.

1. From the Home screen, do one of the following:
   
   

   • Click Configure on the navigation panel.

   • Click the down arrow next to Home on the menubar and select Configure.

   • Click Areas > Configure on the menubar.

From any other area of the program, do one of the following:

1. • Click the down arrow to the right of the Home options bar button and select Configure.

   • Click Home > Configure on the menubar. The Configure screen displays.

2. Click Structure > Profit Centers on the navigation panel. The Profit Centers frame displays to the right of the navigation panel.

From here, you can do the following:

2. • Add a Profit Center
     1. Do one of the following:
        • Click the Add button to the left of the Profit Center list.
        • Click New > Profit Center on the options bar.
        • Click File > New > Profit Center on the menubar.
        • Press [Insert] on your keyboard.
     2. Enter a profit center Code. This field is required.
     3. Enter the new profit center's Name. This field is required.
     4. Click Finish or press [Enter] to add the profit center.
        
        Click Add to add this profit center and then enter the information for a second profit center.
        
        Click Cancel or press [Esc] to exit this workflow without saving your changes. You are prompted: "Do you wish to discard changes?" Click Yes.
   • Edit a Profit Center
     1. Click the name of the profit center you to wish to revise, and then do one of the following:
        • Click the Edit button to the left of the Profit Center list.
        • Click File > Open on the menubar.
        • Double click the name.
        • Press [Enter].
     2. Optionally revise the profit center's Code or Name.
     3. Click Finish or press [Enter] to add the profit center.
        
        Click Cancel or press [Esc] to exit this workflow without saving your changes. You are prompted: "Do you wish to discard changes?" Click Yes.
   • Delete a Profit Center

     Note: Departments that have been assigned to an organization cannot be deleted.

     1. Click the name of the profit center you wish to delete, and then do one of the following:
        • Click the Delete button to the left of the Profit Center list.
        • Click File > Delete on the menubar.
        • Press [Delete] on your keyboard.
     2. You are prompted: "Do you wish to delete this record?" Click Yes.
   • Print a List of Profit Centers
     1. To print a list of the forms and endorsement, click the Print button to the left of the list. The Print window displays.
     2. Print this list as you would any other document.
