Market Appetite

Market Appetite enables you to locate markets with appetite for your commercial clients’ risk. Market Appetite immediately presents you with a list of carriers, MGAs, and wholesalers with appetite for the specified risk, reducing your dependency on the time-consuming manual steps traditionally used to find markets while enabling you to present the best options for coverage to clients. Market Appetite integrates with Ask Kodiak to provide you with current, accurate appetite information supplied by each carrier.

Market Appetite results are available from the options bar on the Home screen, the Account Locate screen, and in any area of a client’s account. Market Appetite results for carriers with stated appetite for a client's risk are also available from a sidebar on the Policies – Current Renewed and Policies – Marketed lists, the Add Policy and Add Master Marketing Submission screens, and policy detail and marketing submission detail for any client the system recognizes as a commercial lines client.

When you access Market Appetite from Contact Detail for a business contact or from the Policy area, Market Appetite performs a search to identify companies that write business for the account’s NAICS or SIC code in the account’s state. To enable these automatic searches, however, you must enter an NAICS or SIC code on the Business Info tab in Contact Detail.

1. Access Market Appetite by clicking the Appetite button on the options bar. The Appetite button is available on the Home screen, the Account Locate screen, and within Client accounts.
   
   
   1. To access Accounts from the Home screen, do one of the following:
   • Click Accounts on the navigation panel.
   • Click Areas > Accounts on the menubar.
   • Click the down arrow next to Home on the options bar and select Accounts.
   • Click Locate on the options bar.
   2. To access Accounts from another area of the program, do one of the following:
   • Click Home > Accounts on the menubar.
   • Click the down arrow next to Home on the options bar and select Accounts.
   • Click Locate on the options bar.
   3. In the Locate account dropdown menu, select Client.
   4. In the Locate by dropdown menu, select the appropriate option.
   5. Select the suitable checkbox or checkboxes to the right:
   • Insureds
   • Prospects
   • Active
   • Inactive
   6. Enter the first few letters of the name, lookup code, phone number, etc. (depending on the selection in the Locate by dropdown menu) and press [Enter] or click Locate.
      
      Note: Location by phone number searches all phone numbers associated with client and contact accounts (e.g., residential, mobile, fax).
   7. The Results list displays all of the accounts that match the criteria you entered. Click on a column heading to sort the list by that category. For example, click the Last Name column heading to sort by last name in ascending order. To sort in descending order, click the Last Name column heading again.
   8. Highlight the desired item in the Results list.
   9. Click the desired area on the navigation panel, or select it from the Areas menu on the menubar.
2. The Market Appetite screen displays, allowing you to conduct a search using the following criteria:
   • Partial or complete SIC or NAICS code or a description of the business
   • Products
   • States
   Note: NAICS, SIC, and State default when this information is available on the client account from which you access Market Appetite. Products prefill from active policies on the account.
3. When you have finished viewing the search results, click the X in the upper right corner to close the Market Appetite window and return to Applied Epic.
