Renew an Opportunity

When you close an opportunity as Lost, you may wish to try again to win the same business at a later time. To do so, you can renew the opportunity. You may also wish to renew opportunities that you close as Won, to aid you in processing renewals for the same business the following year.

  1. Locate the account in question and access the Opportunities area. 
  2. A list of opportunities for the selected client displays. Change the opportunities that display in the list if necessary. 
  1. Click to highlight the opportunity you wish to renew and do one of the following: 

Note: You can also renew an opportunity directly from the Home screen by right clicking it in the Opportunities list and selecting Renew.

  1. The Renew Opportunity pop-up window displays. The description of the selected opportunity defaults in the Description field, but you can change this in order to distinguish the renewal opportunity from the original opportunity.
  2. Select the Targeted close date for the renewal opportunity
  3. Choose the appropriate Group and Stage. Stages are set up in Opportunity Stages Configuration, and Groups are set up in Opportunity Stage Groups Configuration.

    Note: Only the Stages in the selected Group populate in the Stage dropdown.
  4. Click the Detail button to display the Opportunity Detail screen and enter any information available for the renewal opportunity.

    Click the Cancel button to exit the Renew Opportunity screen without renewing the opportunity.
