The first step in the cancellation process is to create the cancellation in the system. The Cancel action creates the cancellation request or policy release, as well as a Service Summary row to show that the cancellation is In Process. You can only cancel Contracted policies.

If you cancel only part of a package policy, the system creates a Service Policy row for each line of business that is still active in the package. These rows exist only to keep the row numbers for all lines of the policy in sync; select a different row if you need to access policy detail.

  1. Locate the account and access the Policies area.
  2. A list of policies for the selected client displays. Change the policies that display in the list if necessary.
  3. You can change the columns that display in the list if necessary.

Note: Click the Sort Descending link to sort the policies by date starting with the most recent.

  1. Click on the policy in the list.

Note: Monoline and package policies are in bold. Lines of business included in package policies are not bolded; they are indented and listed below the package policies to which they belong.
  1. Do one of the following:

Note: You can also click Actions > Cancel from the Policy Detail screen.

  1. Under Type / Effective Date, click the Cancellation request or Policy release radio button.
  2. Enter a Cancellation effective date, or click the down arrow to choose a date from the dropdown calendar.
  3. The Cancellation effective time defaults as 12:01 a.m. You can change this if necessary.
  4. Enter a Description of the cancellation.
  5. By default, all lines of business are selected in the list. Deselect the checkbox corresponding to any line of business that should not be cancelled. If all lines of business should be cancelled, leave all of the checkboxes marked.
  6. Click Finish or press [Enter] to complete the action.

Click Cancel or press [Esc] to exit the workflow without canceling the policy.
