Adjust Commissions on a Transaction

You can use the Adjust Commissions action to adjust the agency and/or producer/broker commission on a previously entered commissionable transaction, or add producers or brokers to the transaction.

You cannot adjust commission on a payment transaction or a transaction on a suspended statement. If a direct bill transaction has a $0.00 premium amount, you cannot adjust commissions to $0.00.

  1. Locate the account and access the Transactions area.
  2. The Transactions list initially loads blank. Enter your desired search criteria to populate the list for the selected account.

Note: The list can display a maximum of 500 transactions.
  3. You can change the columns that display in the list if necessary.
  1. In the list, click the appropriate transaction.

  2. Do one of the following:

Note: When you click a transaction in the list, all splits for the selected transaction display in the list if applicable.

  1. The Issuing Company and Premium Payable Entity default. You can change this information if the following conditions are met:

  2. You can change the Type of commission (Flat Fee or Percentage of Premium), the Percent or Amount of commission, and/or the Pay Due Date.

  3. You can add a producer/broker or change the producer/broker. The system verifies that there is no activity associated with the transaction (e.g., items applied, previous adjustments) and that the transaction's accounting month is still open.

  4. You can change the producer/broker's Type of commission (Agency Net Commission, Net Agency Commission Split [available only for producers], Flat Fee, Percentage of Premium, or Percentage of Commission), the Percent or Amount of commission, and/or the Production Credit.

Production credit (Prod Credit %) is the percentage of credit a producer/broker receives on a premium or commission. The agency can run the Production Report for specific producers/brokers and review the Pr/Br Prod Cr % column to determine, based on percentage, how much business and/or revenue producers/brokers are bringing in to the agency. Producer and broker production credit must equal 100% when added together. You must enter production credit percentage for a producer using the Net Agency Commission Split commission type (click here for examples of how this is calculated).

Order # specifies one person as the primary broker or producer for a transaction. Order # is used in calculating commissions when using the Agency Net Commission commission type (click here for examples of how this is calculated).

Note: You cannot adjust agency commission and production credit in the same workflow. In order to modify both fields, you must perform two separate adjustments.

  1. Click Finish or press [Enter] to complete the workflow.

Click Cancel or press [Esc] to exit the workflow without saving changes.
