The printing capabilities available vary, depending on the way you access Applied Epic.
If Applied Epic is installed locally on your computer, you can print directly from within the system. Refer to the article for each system area or workflow for printing instructions applicable to that workflow.
If you access Applied Epic through a web browser, you cannot print directly from within the system, but you can use the Download & Print function to save a file locally to print. You can also install and use the Print Center to manage multiple print outputs and assign a single printer for all pending print jobs. See the specific instructions below on the options available.
Lists of items such as accounts, policies, transactions, contacts, and attachments are available throughout the system. Although you cannot print these lists directly from within the system, you can save them to your browser's default Downloads location as PDF (default) or CSV files, which you can then open and print locally.
To filter and save a list for printing, follow these general instructions:
Although you cannot print directly from within the system, many pages have a Download & Print option instead. This option allows you to generate a PDF file and automatically save it to your browser's default Downloads folder. After downloading the file, you can open and print it.
To use the Download & Print option, follow these general instructions:
If you often print multiple queued documents, you can install the Print Center. The Print Center allows you to print multiple jobs at once and assign a single printer for some or all of the documents queued for printing, instead of selecting the printer manually for each document.
You can install the Print Center from the Help > Connection Suite menu (unless an admin manages Connection Suite installations for you). You must also have the Applied Epic Extension and the Desktop Connector installed. Once the print center is installed, print jobs are queued in the Print > Print Center until you are ready to print them, rather than in the Access > Notifications area (as they do for users without the Print Center installed). Once the Print Center is installed on your workstation, you can use it in any browser on that workstation that you use to access Applied Epic.
To send documents that are ready to print to the Print Center instead of viewing them in Access > Notifications, select the Send ready-to-print documents to Print Center checkbox in Notifications Configuration. If you have installed Print Center but prefer to manage printing workflows from Access > Notifications, leave the checkbox deselected.
Selecting the checkbox moves all available print jobs from Access > Notifications to the Print Center window the next time you log in to Epic. Deselecting the checkbox stops future print jobs from processing through Print Center, but you must process any existing print jobs from Print Center; they do not move back to Access > Notifications.
Once the Print Center is installed (as well as the Applied Epic Extension and Desktop Connector), you can access it from Print > Print Center on the menubar.
From the Print Center pop-up window, you can do any of the following:
If you no longer want to use the Print Center, you can uninstall it from the Windows Control Panel > Programs and Features menu as you would any other application.
Any existing incomplete print jobs are purged when you uninstall the Print Center. Make sure to complete all print jobs before uninstalling.
