Home > Utility Manager > Update UNC Paths
Universal Naming Convention (UNC) is the industry standard method of accessing shared data on a local computer or over a network without the use of mapped drive letters - such as G:\ and H:\, as are common on most TAM systems.
Running the Update UNC Paths utilities updates TAM system configuration and local workstation configurations to use UNC paths instead of mapped drive letters. The existing mapped drives remain in place.
Important! Enabling Update UNC Paths is required to operate and run the Night Utility Job System.
If your system currently uses a single mapped drive for TAM executables (typically G:\), as well as a single mapped drive for TAM data (typically H:\), Applied Systems recommends that you update your system to use UNC paths: while it is not required for the daily operation of TAM, the Night Utility Job System does require the use of UNC paths.
To update to UNC paths, log into Utility Manager outside of TAM, and ensure that all users are out of the system.
On-premise systems with multiple data shares have a single shared drive mapping for TAM executables, and multiple shared drive mappings for TAM Data.
On-premise users with multiple data shares MUST use the Data Drive Location option of the Update UNC Paths utility.
This option converts only the data share path to use UNC.
Since all users must be out of TAM during this process, log into Utility Manager outside of TAM.
