Expression Builder Options

On this screen, you can determine which functions and variables display on the Expression Builder screen as well as the appearance of the field names. Customizing these areas can make the fields more easily identifiable and make it easier to locate the functions and variables you wish to work with.
Note: Any selections you make on the Expression Builder Options screen only apply until you close Expression Builder. The next time you access Expression Builder, all options will be cleared.
- From the Expression Builder screen, click Options. The Expression Builder Options screen displays.
- In the Functions frame, select a type of function (String, Math, Logical, or Date). The list to the right populates with all functions of this type. The functions currently displaying in the dropdown fields in Expression Builder are highlighted.
- Click on a function in the list. No functions except the currently highlighted function remain selected. To determine which functions will be available from the dropdown field for this type, highlight all the functions you wish to include.
- Press [Ctrl] while clicking to select multiple functions, or press [Shift] to select a range of functions.
- You may also click All to highlight all functions listed, or Clear to clear all highlights.
- Repeat steps 2-3 for all applicable function types.
- In the Field aliases frame, determine whether you would like each field name available for selection in the Fields list to be preceded by the name of the table that contains it (also known as its alias).
- Always add alias- Precede field names with table names (for example, ins.name).
- Add non-selected alias only- Because alias selection is not implemented in TAM, this option functions the same way as Always add alias.
- Never add alias- Displays field names only in the expression (for example, name).
- The Show system memory variables checkbox can be disregarded, as system memory variables are not retained in TAM.
- Press OK to apply your settings and return to the Expression Builder screen, or Cancel to return to the Expression Builder screen without applying your settings.
