Change Requests - Common Errors and Solutions

If the change request cannot update the application, then an Update Errors box displays with the error. This box only displays if the Update Immediately option is selected. If the change request is processed through Close-Day or Night Utility Job System, then the Update Errors box does not display. However, the update errors do print on the FIM Change Request Update Report. The update error will continue to print on the FIM Change Request Update Error Report until the change request with the problem is corrected or removed from the queue for Close-Day or Night Utility Job System. The most common update errors and solutions are given below. Contact Applied Customer Support for further assistance with errors, if needed.

Personal Auto Change Request

"Accident - No Open Accident Sections on Application"

The above error displays when making a change to the Accidents tab of the Change Request if the available space on the application for accident information is already filled in completely.

Either remove one of the accidents from the application so that the new information can fit, or manually type the third accident information into the Remarks section of the application.

"Add Cov/End1-VEH X Does Not Exist"

The above error displays when entering information on the Vehicles tab of the Change Request under the End radio button. This indicates that the additional coverages/endorsements are being added to a vehicle that does not exist on the application. Only use the Add option on this screen when adding these coverages for a new vehicle that is also being added on the Change Request, or when adding these coverages to an existing vehicle on the application.

A maximum of four lines of additional coverages/endorsements are allowed on the application. Adding a fifth line does not display an error, but the application is not updated with this information.

"Both a Vehicle Number and Lien Number Must Be Entered on the Lienholder Screen"

The above error displays if information is not entered in both the Veh # box and the Lien # box on the Additional Interest screen of the Change Request. This is located on the Vehicles tab, Int radio button.

When adding a Lienholder, enter the vehicle number to which the Lienholder should be attached. Also enter the Lienholder number for this Lienholder. For example, if this vehicle already has a Lienholder, enter a 2 in the Lien # box.

This error also displays if only one of these fields is left blank.

"Liability Limits 1-VEH X Does Not Exist"

This error displays if a change or deletion is made on a Lim[1-4] screen to a vehicle that does not exist. Only an Add can be done on a nonexistent vehicle.

"Unable to Add Lienholder 3 - Max of 2 Lienholders Allowed on the Auto App"

This error displays if there are already two Lienholders assigned to the vehicle on the application, and the Change Request is set to add a third Lienholder to that same vehicle. For example:

  1. On the Vehicles tab of the Change Request, click the Int radio button.
  2. In the bottom frame on the screen, click the Add radio button, and enter the Lienholder # and Veh #.
  3. In the Lien # box, there is a number three or higher. A maximum of two Lienholders per vehicle is allowed. If more than two are entered, this error displays.

"Vehicle Limits Were Entered With No Vehicle Number"

This error indicates that limits to change, add, or delete were entered, but the vehicle to which the limits pertain was not indicated. To correct:

  1. Go to the Vehicles tab of the personal Change Request.
  2. Click the appropriate Lim[1-4] radio button.
  3. Directly under the blue box labeled Vehicle Coverages/Premiums are the letters "N A C D". These indicate the following:

Directly to the right of this is a Veh label with four boxes. When making any changes to the coverages directly below this, there must be at least one vehicle number in one of these boxes in order for the system to be able to make the change. All applicable Lim[1-4] screens must have at least one vehicle number specified.

Homeowners Change Request

"A Specific Location Number Must Be Entered for Homeowners"

This error displays on a Homeowners Change Request when adding coverages on the Home/Fire tab with no value in the Location # box. Therefore, the system does not know for which location to update the coverages. The system defaults the existing coverages on the address.

Go to the Home/Fire tab of the Homeowners Change Request, to the first section, and choose the Change radio button. The system defaults the existing coverages on the address that shows in the combo box at the top of the screen. For example, it may pull in

Note: It is important to leave the coverages that default unless they should be changed or deleted. For example, a user wants to change the personal property amount from 50,000 to 60,000, and no other amounts should change. If the user deletes the rest of the amounts that default, the Change Request will delete those amounts when processed. This is the design of the program - if the coverage fields are blanked out, the system removes the data when the change is processed.

"Homeowners Locations Must be Added in Sequential Order"

The above error displays when adding an Additional Interest without a location number. For example, on the Addl Int tab of the Change Request, a Lienholder is entered, but the field for Location # is blank. Enter the location number in order for the system to update.

Commercial Property Change Request

"A Specific Sub # Must Be Entered for Property Change Line 1"

The above error displays if no Sub # is filled in on the Property tab of the Change Request when doing an Add, Change, or Delete. The Sub # field refers to the Subject of Insurance number field on the Property Application. For each risk, there can be up to four subjects of insurance. Indicate on the Change Request (by number 1-4) which one of the subjects of insurance is being changed.
