The Message Center

The Message Center allows you to create messages to display on the Dashboard and/or on Home Base. It is possible to display the same message on both the Dashboard and Home base, but each area has limitations on how the message displays. All messages that display on the Dashboard are static (non-scrolling) whereas only scrolling messages display on the bottom of Home Base.

To access the Message Center from Home Base, click Tools on the menubar and select Message Center.

To enable scrolling messages on Home Base, click Tools on the menubar, select System Setup, and select the Scrolling Messages checkbox on the Settings tab.

The Message Center list displays saved messages for the area in which they display (TAM, Dashboard, or TAM & Dashboard). Use the buttons on the bottom of the screen to add, delete, or revise messages. Click Close to return to Home Base.

Add a Message

  1. At Home Base, click Tools on the menubar and select Message Center.
  2. Select the radio button where you want the message to display: in TAM, on the Dashboard, or TAM & Dashboard (both).
  3. Click Add. The Message Detail screen appears.
  4. In the Start Message frame, enter the Date and Time the message should appear on the system.
  5. In the Kill Message frame, enter the Date and Time to stop displaying the message.
  6. If you want to disregard the Year, Month, Day, or Time settings when displaying the message, click the desired checkboxes in the Ignore window. For example, if you click Time, The Message Center displays the message on the selected Start Message Date but does not wait until the selected time.
  7. Under the Scrolling Message frame, select the Yes radio button if you would like the message to scroll across the bottom of the Home Base screen. If you select No, the message will not display on Home Base at all. Messages will not scroll on the Dashboard.
  8. Enter the text of the message and click OK to save the message. This text will display in the Description column in the Message Center window when the corresponding radio button is selected (see step 2).
  9. Click Close to return to Home Base.

Delete a Message

  1. At Home Base, click Tools on the menubar and select Message Center.
  2. Select the corresponding radio button where the message displays (TAM, Dashboard, or TAM & Dashboard).
  3. Click on the message you want to delete from the list.
  4. Click the Delete button below the button bar.
  5. Click Yes to confirm the deletion or No to exit the window without deleting the message.
  6. To return to Home Base, click Close.

Revise a Message

  1. At Home Base, click Tools on the menubar and select Message Center.
  2. Select the corresponding radio button where the message displays (TAM, Dashboard, or TAM & Dashboard).
  3. Click on the message you want to change from the list and click Revise.
  4. On the Message Detail screen, make any necessary changes (see Add a Message).
  5. When you finish revising, click OK to save the changes or Cancel to exit the screen without saving.
  6. To save your changes and return to Home Base, click Close.
