Multiple Vehicles with VIN
The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) entered for a vehicle on the
underwriting screen can have multiple results when more than one vehicle
model shares the same VIN. In such cases, the Vehicle
Search or Vehicle Selection
screen displays, depending on the vehicle type, allowing you to select
the correct vehicle from the list.
Vehicle
Search for Private Passenger Vehicles (Ontario)
Note: This
workflow is only applicable for Ontario AutoRater quotes using the Cloud
version of Applied Rating Services (Applied Rating Services 2023 and later).
- On the Vehicles tab, enter
the VIN
for the vehicle.
- If multiple vehicles are found, the Vehicle
Selection screen displays with the list of vehicles that match
the VIN. Select a vehicle
in the list and then click Select
Vehicle.
If the vehicle you want is not displaying
in the list, click Cancel
and enter the Year,
Make, Model, and/or VICC
in the Vehicle field to search
for the vehicle. You can enter this information in any order.

A validation
message displays above the VIN and Vehicle fields noting the VIN you entered returned
multiple vehicles. To return to the Vehicle
Selection screen to review the
list of vehicles and/or revise your vehicle selection, click the Select
Vehicle link.

If you select a different vehicle from the
Vehicle dropdown menu that does
not match the VIN in the VIN
field, a validation message displays above the VIN
and Vehicle fields stating the
Vehicle does not match the VIN. Select
Vehicle. Click the Select
Vehicle link to return to the Vehicle
Selection screen to select a vehicle that matches the current VIN
or continue with the existing vehicle.


Vehicle Search for Private Passenger
Vehicles (All other provinces)
- Enter the VIN
for the vehicle.
- If multiple vehicles are found, a pop up screen will display asking
to do a search. Click the Yes
button to continue with the search
- The Vehicle Search screen
displays. The list of vehicles that match the VIN entered in the VIN field displays. Select the
correct vehicle in the list and then click the OK
button.
If the vehicle is not displaying in the list you can do a search for
a different vehicle by selecting, the Model
Year, Manufacturer
and entering in the Model
of the vehicle. You can Search by VICC by checking the checkbox and
entering the VICC
in the corresponding field. Click the Search
button, select the vehicle from the list and click OK.
Note: If
you select a different vehicle than what displays in the list and
do not change the VIN when quoting the auto policy on the Validation
tab under the Vehicles section,
a line item stating the Vehicle
does not match the VIN displays.

Vehicle
Selection for Miscellaneous and Commercial Vehicles
- Enter the VIN
for the vehicle into the VIN field.
- If multiple vehicles are found, the Vehicle
Selection screen displays. A list of vehicles display in the
list based on the VIN entered in the VIN field. Select
the radio button next to the vehicle you want and then click the Select button.
Note: If
you change the Year, Make,
and/or Model on the underwriting
screen for the vehicle and do not change the VIN, a message will display
stating that the vehicle does not correspond to the VIN.
