This page includes release notes for both the Applied Epic desktop interface
and browser interface. Items that are only applicable to the browser interface
display a web icon . The Build number refers to the Build value on the Release
tab of Help > About Applied Epic,
and the version number (in the format xx.xxx.x) refers to the Client
Version value. The version
number only applies to the Applied Epic browser interface.
These release notes provide details about all changes and improvements
delivered in this release. The final scope of the release and accompanying
notes are subject to change before general release. If changes occur after
controlled release, a Change Log displays to document them. We encourage
you to review these release notes at general release as well as controlled
release. Items that require an updated Connection Suite component display
a plug icon .
For full functionality, please install the latest version of the Epic
Connection Suite Package (1.40.17) from Help > Connection Suite
or push this update to users’ workstations if your organization manages
the installation for them. If you have previously uninstalled older
versions to install version 1.38.7 or later, you do not need to uninstall
the package before installing this version. If you currently have
an older version installed, uninstall it before installing this one.
Ensuring that no updates to users' web browsers are pending may improve the installation experience. To prevent errors during email workflows after the Applied Epic Outlook Add-in is updated, Applied recommends closing Microsoft Outlook before installing the package.
To download the installation file from the Applied Community, navigate to Product Information > Applied Epic > Download Product Updates > Applied Epic Connection Suite. Refer to Installing the Connection Suite for installation instructions.
Since version 1.38.7, all versions of the Connection Suite package (including this one) include a Windows service called the Applied Connection Suite Installer, which will install future updates to the Connection Suite Package on your workstation automatically.
To make it easier to adopt new and improved Applied Epic capabilities as the Connection Suite continues to evolve, an automated installation experience is available for the Connection Suite Package. An Applied Epic Connection Suite Installer component, a Windows service, has been added to the package. This service is installed on your workstation along with the package. Once enabled, it will update the Connection Suite package automatically whenever a new version compatible with your version of Applied Epic is available.
The installer is available with version 1.38.7 and subsequent versions of the Connection Suite Package (MSI only). Before installing, uninstall any older version of the package from your workstation. After you install this version (with its accompanying Windows service), Applied Epic will automatically check for Connection Suite updates every time you log in. If an update is required, Applied Epic will download the new MSI file to your workstation and the service will perform the update automatically.
Applied has taken a phased approach to the rollout of this feature, and your organization may have already had the auto-update functionality enabled. If not, Applied will enable automatic Connection Suite updates when your system is updated to Applied Epic August 2025. This means that beginning with the September release, the Connection Suite package will update automatically on any workstation with the Windows service installed.
Because manual updates to the Connection Suite are no longer necessary once the functionality is enabled, Applied recommends denying the Program Access > General > General > Connection Suite security permission for all users with this service. Denying this permission prevents notifications about Connection Suite updates from displaying for these users, but they can still view the Help > Connection Suite pop-up in read-only mode if necessary. Users who manage their own installation of the Epic Quotes Live Fill Applet may need to retain this permission even if they have the service installed.
If your organization mass-installs Connection Suite updates for users, install this update as you normally would. Once Applied enables the service, however, mass installation will no longer be necessary, as the service will install all updates automatically as needed.
For detailed technical information about the new installation experience, refer to Installing the Connection Suite.

EPIC-50585
To help you reconcile payments made on account more easily, a Description field has been added to the Account view of the Payment from Client workflow. Use this field to indicate what the expected payment is for. The description you enter displays for the insured on the checkout page in Order Summary.
This description (prefixed with Applied Pay) also populates as the description of the corresponding PYMT transaction in Applied Epic, as well as populating in Applied Epic from other checkout workflows (such as the Hosted Payment page).
This Description field is only available in the payment from client Account workflow, not the Policy or Transaction workflows.
Targeted role: Servicing personnel, accounting personnel
EACT-4874, PAY-4121
While form editions allow you to maintain version control over the policy/plan forms your organization has customized, minor updates to an existing form may not warrant an entirely new edition. Versioning a form for every change can proliferate the editions available in your system and unnecessarily complicate form management. To simplify form editing and give you greater flexibility, an Edit Published Edition option has been added to the actions menu for the latest published form edition in the Editions pop-up in Configure > Policy > Policy/Plan Forms.
Use this option to make controlled modifications to the latest published edition without creating a new edition. You can make the following types of changes inline within the existing edition, preserving all data and eliminating the need for new editions:
Add fields, sections, pages, etc.
Modify existing fields
Reorder fields, sections, and pages
Delete empty pages
Adjust layouts to improve form design
However, you cannot delete fields or pages that contain fields from a published edition; you must create a new edition to remove fields.
To apply your changes to the published form, select Preview & Commit Changes. When you commit your changes, add descriptive comments to explain them. Note that you can only edit the most recently published edition of a form.
Changes apply consistently across all existing policy terms that use the updated edition when you view policy detail or take any action on a policy or plan (such as adding a new business policy or renewing or endorsing an existing policy), regardless of Service Summary stage.
Targeted role: Epic system administrators
PLAN-1534
When you access an area that requires the
Connection Suite Package in a new tab, the system reliably recognizes
your Connection Suite Package installation. Previously, functionality
that required the package sometimes erroneously displayed as disabled
in new tabs.
EPIC-88529
The validation pop-ups that display when
you close a modernized screen without completing a required field
have been updated to specify the missing information.
EPIC-91844
If you have used the splitter to expand the Activities list on the Home screen beyond 8,000px, an exception error no longer occurs when you log in.
EPCL-72686
Activities assigned to work groups that you do not belong to no longer display in the Activities list on the Home screen.
EPCL-72650
The Save button no longer displays in the options bar on the Home screen if you have deselected the Market Appetite Search checkbox in Configure > User Options > Customize Homebase.
EPCL-72556
You
can add an activity to an opportunity on the Home screen. Previously,
the Add an Activity pop-up
failed to open and the screen became unresponsive.
EPCL-73122
Leads import successfully if you have configured a rule in Configure > Leads Inbox > Import Rules with criteria for multiple states or provinces (using an OR operator). Previously, the system did not apply rules that used "or" logic.
EPCL-72254
When the Activity Detail screen refreshes after you drag and drop an attachment with the Tasks tab open, focus remains on the task you had selected before dragging and dropping the attachment. Previously, focus returned to the first task in the list, which made it possible to make inadvertent changes to the wrong task.
EPCL-72109
You can open activities generated by a report with marketing options if they are associated to a line of business with multiple producers/brokers listed on the Pr/Br tab of Servicing/Billing > Line and the report layout includes the Producer/Broker Name or Code field. Previously, the system created these activities without a structure association, which prevented them from opening.
EPCL-73534
Selecting Access
> Activities > Open Activities from a modernized screen
no longer opens a filtered list that includes Closed
activities.
EPCL-74436
Updating an attachment description no longer results in a Maximum length exceeded validation error for the Comments field.
EPCL-72989
Opening an attachment in the desktop interface whose file name contains a dollar sign no longer causes a Program Alert error.
EPCL-71125
Extraneous prompts
to save changes or close dialog boxes no longer display when you close Microsoft Word after merging a
proposal containing five or more templates.
EPCL-73357
Attachment previews no longer display
for attachments to which you do not have structure access. Previously,
previews displayed for attachments that only should have displayed
as list items if you had the Display
in Listview Regardless of Structure security option granted.
EPCL-74870
If your organization uses Applied Pay and has Active Directory authentication enabled in Configure > Security > Logins, opening Client Detail no longer causes an error.
EPCL-73868
Nine-digit
ZIP codes added from the transformed Add
a Client page no longer display two hyphens in other areas
of the system.
EPCL-73345
The Contacts list has been optimized to load more quickly when an account contains hundreds of contacts or more.
EPCL-72824
The
system no longer removes dashes when saving your
BIN, BN, or VAT entries
on the Business Info tab
of Contact Detail.
ECRM-7270
Bulk SMS messages send successfully once your organization completes the SMS registration process. Previously, distribution occasionally failed for certain recipients.
EPCL-73530
When you generate government taxes and fees while adding a transaction for a premium with split receivables between parent and child accounts, the taxes and fees file with the same splits between accounts as the premium. Previously, the taxes and fees used the percentages from the split receivable template, but all of them were split to the parent account.
EPCL-72158
The system creates reversing transactions when you adjust the amounts on a financed payment transaction. Previously, the system did not create a PYMT transaction for the finance company for the reversal or void, leaving accounts receivable out of balance with incorrect balances on the client’s and finance company’s accounts.
EPCL-72553
If you add additional taxes and fees when creating an invoice during the Add a Transaction workflow, the Invoice grouping defaults to Production Invoice. Previously, it defaulted to the same Invoice grouping as the production item, which caused the system to assign the tax/fee transactions to a separate invoice.
EPCL-73075
If an item is fully paid in one month and you revise and reverse the premium in the next month, the producer commission continues to display as fully paid in the original month. Previously, it displayed as fully paid in the revised month.
EPCL-17404
Including an Applied Pay payment link when
generating an invoice that contains reversed items no longer results
in a validation message if the credit amount exceeds the total debit
invoice amount.
EPCL-72448
When you generate an Applied Pay payment
link while generating an invoice, the system no longer unnecessarily
rounds convenience fees up to the next cent when only zeros exist
beyond the hundredths place (for example, $1.8200).
EPCL-72955
A validation message displays if you delete an in-process Service Summary row. Previously, an exception error sometimes occurred.
EPCL-72473
If Commissionable Producer/Broker Requirement option is enabled in Configure > Policy > System Settings and you receive a validation message to enter at least one producer or broker while entering details on a new policy, navigating to a different part of the policy from the Servicing/Billing > Line > Pr/Br tab no longer clears Servicing Contacts that you have already entered on Servicing tab.
EPCL-72930
The system calculates weighted commissions correctly. Previously, it applied tiered commissions to each individual line commission instead of the total line commission.
EPCL-71150, EPIC-79526
When you complete the Close/Reopen
Claim action, the system releases the associated system lock.
Previously, the system lock remained.
EPIC-97235
A Clear
link label has been added to all radio button fields on policy/plan
forms to enable users to remove their previous selection if none of
the radio buttons apply. Previously, there was no way to deselect
radio buttons after making a selection. As in previous versions of
Applied Epic, validation messages will prevent you from leaving a
required radio button field blank.
ATX2-2597
When you perform the Change
Service Summary Description action on a carrier submission,
the pop-up closes after you click Save.
Previously, it remained open.
EPIC-74862
You can add an activity manually from Carrier
Submission Detail. Previously, none of the fields on the Add
an Activity pop-up were enabled.
EPIC-76314
You can open an attachment from the Attachments tab of Carrier Submission
Detail. Previously, attachments failed to open.
EPIC-81671
Deleting or finalizing a receipt containing an Applied Pay payment no longer causes an exception error.
EPCL-71102
The
correct results populate when you use the
Import Applied Pay Payouts option while adding a receipt. Previously,
unmatched items also populated if the import contained more than 100
payments.
EACT-4960
Performance has been optimized to prevent errors when you finalize a receipt after flagging items and sorting lists simultaneously during the Add workflow.
EPCL-73836, EPCL-74222
Receipts consistently display the correct Amount on the Receipts landing page and include a debit line in the Detail section. Previously, it was possible for the total Amount to display as 0.00 and for the Detail section to omit the debit line in this view if a timeout or other error occurred during receipt creation (although the correct information displayed when you accessed Receipt Detail).
EPCL-72249
An issue has been resolved that previously caused credit balances to display for transactions included on a finalized Premium Payable reconciliation statement that had been paid through Applied Pay (with the Auto Apply Credits to Debits option enabled in Configure > Accounting > Applied Pay) after you reversed the statement.
EPCL-71519
The correct receivable balance displays in the Transactions list in Premium Payable reconciliation detail for transactions that have been financed and then written off. Previously, the Recv Bal column value did not reflect the write-off on the finance company transaction.
EPCL-72615
Unflagging transactions on a Direct Bill Commissions Reconciliation that have been adjusted and had partial payments applied no longer causes an error.
EPCL-71523
When you select Paid as the Remission Method on a Government Payables reconciliation, the system calculates Payable Due as the amount owed to the government entity minus any applied payments (PYGP) remitted, regardless of month. Previously, the Payable Due calculation only included applied payments (PYGP) that had been remitted in the accounting months specified in the criteria.
EPCL-65867
Unflagging transactions that have been written off on a Direct Bill Commissions Reconciliation statement no longer causes an exception error if you reopened the statement after finalizing it or if the write-off occurred on a different statement.
EPCL-72604
Cleared items no longer display on Bank Reconciliations when you search for outstanding items. Previously, some cleared disbursements with a Finalized date in the future displayed as outstanding.
EPCL-36180
The items you select on a Bank Reconciliation remain selected after you perform a search, then clear filters. Previously, clearing filters also cleared your selections.
EPCL-1790, PMR 384063
Performance has been optimized to prevent timeout errors when you select Flag All Items while creating a producer statement in Pr/Br Payable Reconciliations, particularly if you create the statement for all items for all producers.
EPCL-72181
You can no longer associate receipts to statements with a different entity type in General Ledger > Import > Direct Bill Transactions.
EPCL-71558
You can modify the criteria of a report you have just created in the My Reports area even if you do not have the Modify Criteria permission granted for the original report’s report group.
EPCL-73298
You
can generate a report created from an existing report that has already
been generated. Previously, the following notification displayed: An exception was thrown at Job Manager.
EPIC-73083
The Transaction Reconciliation Report excludes reversed Direct Bill Commissions when you select Exclude for the Reversed Items criterion. Previously, the report included commissions created during the Direct Bill Commissions - Record Commissions workflow if you reopened the statement and reversed the items within the same accounting month.
EPCL-69585
The Client Access Log includes records for inactive users if you select Include Inactive when performing a user search. Previously, the log omitted results for inactive users.
EPCL-73356
You can edit the Sequence Number when performing the Define Bank Account action in Configure > Accounting > Chart of Accounts. Previously, the Sequence Number was read-only.
EPCL-52755
When
you perform the Generate Required
Subaccounts action in Configure
> Accounting > Required Accounts, the system creates
unique accounts. Previously, it duplicated existing accounts, resulting
in an exception error.
EPCL-74113
All servicing role names display correctly in the Owner type field on the Basic Settings tab of Configure > Activity > Codes. Previously, the eighth and ninth servicing roles displayed as Servicing role 8 and Servicing role 9, regardless of the names your organization had configured for them.
EPCL-72433
The Save button in Configure
> Job Management > Fax Setup saves your changes. Previously,
it did not.
EPIC-73930
Integrations from Configure
> Policy > Integration that use Epic Forms export and
import data successfully. Previously, no data imported or exported
for Epic Forms.
EPCL-73491
If the Run
Custom Form Conversion action in Configure
> Policy > Custom Forms encounters an issue that prevents
the process from completing, the system retries it automatically.
Previously, you had to rerun the action manually.
EPCL-72664
Policy/plan forms display consistently in
the Application Detail dropdown
in Configure > Policy > Types.
Previously, they occasionally stopped displaying, even if you had
already associated them to a policy type.
EPIC-84518
Selecting Schedule
when setting up Configure > Policy
> Commission/Premium Calculations no longer causes the system
to become unresponsive.
EPIC-80771
Configure > Security > Logins has been optimized to load more quickly and reduce load times when you add a login or select a different login in the list.
EPCL-72136
If your organization uses a third-party identity provider, editing a user’s Applied Identity in Configure > Security > Logins to associate an email address that is already associated in another environment no longer causes an error.
EPCL-73715
You can use the Copy Settings To action to copy structure access from one user to multiple selected users if one of the selected users is already assigned one of the structures you are copying. Previously, none of the other selected users received access to this structure.
EPCL-72189, EPCL-73676, EPIC-89415
An error that occurred when some users accessed
Configure > User Options >
Distribution Email Accounts has been resolved.
EPCL-73007
An issue has been resolved that previously resulted in sporadic Program Alert errors when you clicked on a policy in Policy Suspense.
EPCL-71305
The correct Premium Payable entity displays on the Direct Bill Suspense Communication Log and the Communication Log: DBCD Received report. Previously, these two reports sometimes displayed the Premium Payable entity originally sent in the Download file rather than the one selected on the matching policy or line (although the correct Premium Payable entity displayed in Download Results and on the transaction created by Download).
EPCL-72775
You can type a letter to jump to the first item in the Policy Suspense list that begins with that letter after sorting the list and applying a filter. Previously, typing a letter had no effect.
EPCL-73266
Performance
has been optimized to enable you to delete items from eDocs &
Messages Suspense more quickly in the browser interface.
EPCL-72396
All attachments that meet your criteria in Utilities > Purge > Attachments are included in the preview. Previously, attachments that had been moved to a different entity (for example, from a client to an employee) were omitted from the preview but still included in the purge.
EPCL-72066
