Issue a Cancellation

Once you have received and reviewed a cancellation from a company, you can perform the Issue Cancellation action to complete the process. When you issue the cancellation, update the policy status and close any open activities.

  1. Locate the account and access the Policies area.
  2. A list of policies for the selected customer displays. Change the policies that display in the list if necessary.
  3. You can change the columns that display in the list if necessary.

    Note: Click the Sort Descending link to sort the policies by date starting with the most recent.
  4. Click on the policy in the list.

    Note: Monoline and package policies are in bold. Lines of business included in package policies are not bolded; they are indented and listed below the package policies to which they belong.

Note: You can also click Actions > Issue Cancellation from the Policy Detail screen.

  1. The Expiry defaults in but can be changed if necessary.
  2. The Line tab contains policy line detail. If a policy status defaults in the Status description field, confirm that it is correct. To specify or change a line’s status, click the line in the list and choose a new Status description from the dropdown menu.
  3. To apply the same Status description to all lines of business, click the Apply to All Lines link label.
  4. If there are open activities associated to this line of business that need to be closed, click the Close Open Activities tab.
    1. Click on the activity to be closed, and then select the Closed radio button.
    2. Choose Successful or Unsuccessful in the Closed dropdown menu.

      If you close the activity unsuccessfully, choose a Reason from the dropdown menu.
    3. Optionally enter an Actual time (in Hours and Minutes) that was spent on this activity.
    4. Optionally enter the Actual cost of this activity.
    5. Optionally enter a Note in the text box provided. If you do enter a note, select an Access level for the note to determine who will be able to view it.
  5. Click Finish or press [Enter] to complete the workflow. If any future installments and/or transactions exist for the policy, a message displays. Click OK, and then perform the Reverse Transaction action to cancel these installments and/or transactions.

    Click Cancel or press [Esc] to exit the workflow without issuing a cancellation. You are prompted: "Do you wish to discard changes?" Click Yes.
