Client Sessions

This screen lists the users currently logged in. You can print a list of active sessions or remove a session if needed (for example, if a user loses their network connection and needs their previous session ended manually so they can log in again). Removing a user’s session logs the user out of Applied Epic immediately, regardless of what they are doing in the system, so confirm with the user before removing their session.

1. To access Utilities from the Home screen, do one of the following:
   

   • Click Utilities on the navigation panel.
   • Click Areas > Utilities on the menubar.
   • Click the down arrow next to Home on the options bar and select Utilities.

From any other area of the program, do one of the following:

• Click Areas > Utilities on the menubar.
• Click the down arrow next to Home on the options bar and select Utilities.

2. Click Diagnostic on the navigation panel or Areas > Diagnostic on the menubar.
3. Click Client Sessions on the navigation panel.

4. The Sessions list contains every user who is currently logged in to Applied Epic. Narrow the list of users if necessary.
   
   You can do the following in this area:
   

   1. In the first dropdown menu, select one of the following criteria:

   1. • Usercode
      • Full Name
      • Database Name
      • Last Access
      • Computer Name

   2. The options in the second dropdown vary, depending on the criterion you selected in the first menu:

   1. • Equals: Enter the entire name or usercode, or find the exact date in the dropdown calendar.
      • Contains: Enter at least one character of the name or usercode.
      • Databases: Select the appropriate database.
      • Within Range: Select a beginning date and ending date from the dropdown calendars. You may also leave the ending date Open.

   3. Click Find to search. Click Clear Filter to once again display all sessions.
      
      You can apply multiple filters if necessary.
      1. To apply multiple filters to the list, do one of the following:
         • Click the Edit Filter button . 
         • Press [Ctrl] + E.
      2. The Edit Filter pop-up window displays. 
         
         Note: You can also use the Edit Filter button, rather than the search bar, to apply a single filter to the list if you prefer.

      

      3. Select and/or enter your desired search criteria using the dropdown menus and fields, and then click the Add button. The Name, Compare Type, and Criteria for your filter display in the list. Click one of these column headings to sort the list by that column. To reverse the sort order, click the column heading again.
      4. To apply additional filters, enter additional search criteria and continue clicking Add. To remove a filter from the list, select it and click the Delete button.
      5. Click Finish when you have applied all of your desired filters.
         
         To exit the dialog without applying any filters, click Cancel.
   • Remove a Session
     1. Highlight the session in the list. To select multiple sessions, press the [Ctrl] or [Shift] key as you click.
     2. Click the Delete button to the left of the list.
     3. You are prompted, "Are you sure you want to delete the selected session(s)? Doing so may cause problems if the corresponding user(s) is/are logged into the system." Click Yes.
     4. The session is removed from the list, and the user receives a notification that their session has been terminated.
   • Print a List of Sessions
     1. Do one of the following:

     1. • Click the Print button to the left of the list.
        • Click File > Print > Listview on the menubar.
        • Click Print > Listview on the options bar.
        • Press [Ctrl] + [P].

     2. Print this as you would any other document.
