The Batch Image Router attaches barcodes to images to scan into TAM. The images are associated with the barcoded entity, policy, and claim as attachments. Before completing these steps, use the Barcode Generator to generate and print the barcodes.
Batch scanning is used in front end scanning and back end scanning.
Match the printed barcodes with their associated images. The barcode should be scanned first, followed by the images to be attached to that barcode's entity. Place them in order in the scanner's feeder tray.
If you are using front-end scanning, make sure you use operator barcodes for each staff member and document separator barcodes between each scanned item.
At Home Base, click Scan.
The Batch Image Router screen displays. The current Attachment Unrouted Path that is set from Home Base/System Setup defaults into the field. This is the location where a temporary scanned image file is created. If this is not the desired path for the temporary file, click Browse to select an alternate folder.
You can transfer scanned images to the Unrouted path two ways:
Acquire from a Scanner
Click Acquire.
Select the scanner from the list of available devices and click OK.
Note: The scanner should be set to Black and White mode at 200 dpi, 300 dpi, or 600 dpi.
"Reading Barcodes. Please wait," displays as the images are attached.
Import from a File
Click Import.
Select a TIF file with barcodes and documents that you scanned outside TAM.
Click Open. TAM reads the barcodes and transfers the images to the appropriate spot.
