Revise Insurer Detail

  1. At Home Base, click Clients & Files.
  2. From the dropdown menu above the list, select Insurers.
  3. Select the appropriate insurer in the list.
  4. Click the Detail button.
  5. Revise the insurer information as desired.
    1. When revising name, address, and contact information for the insurer, please note the following:
    1. Use the Note field to enter any additional information regarding the insurer. This is a free-form field, but the data entered here can be accessed in searches.
    1. In the Insurer Type frame, select Carrier if this insurer issues paper, underwrites coverage, or displays on policies and forms. Select Agent if coverage was placed through another agent.
      • If you selected Carrier, revise the Billing and Master fields if this insurer is the child of a separate Billing insurer and/or Master insurer. A Billing insurer does not underwrite coverage but collects premium and handles accounting functions, and is usually the parent insurer of one or more Issuing insurers. A Master insurer is the Parent insurer of multiple Issuing and Billing insurers in a conglomerate, allowing figures for those insurers to be combined into a single total on reports.
        Note: If you enter a Billing insurer and press [TAB], the Master insurer may default.
      • If you selected Agent, determine whether this agent writes Regular or Excess/Surplus Lines business.
    2. Check Allow at Billing Screen to enable this insurer code to be entered on billing screens.
    3. In the Pay Mode frame, select Insurer Statement or Agency Account Current. Insurer Statement means you make payments based on a statement sent by the insurer, while Agency Account Current means you send a statement of items owed to the insurer along with a cheque.
    4. In the Bill Modes frame, determine whether this insurer writes Direct bill business, Agency bill business, or both.
    5. Make the appropriate selection in the Installments frame:

      • Use Pennies- Do not round installment amounts.
      • No Pennies, Add to 1st- Round installments to the nearest pound, adding the remaining amount to the first installment.
      • No Pennies, Add to Last- Round installments to the nearest pound, adding the remaining amount to the last installment.
    6. In the Commission frame, determine whether the insurer pays the agency a Percent of the premium or a Flat Amt.
    7. Enter the Agency Code if known. This is assigned to the agency by the insurer and prints on applications, Account Current reports, and insurer memos.
    8. Enter the insurer's Best's Rating, if known (for reference only).
    9. The Foreign Code field is a free-form field used to indicate whether the insurer writes business in countries other than the US. You may enter a single character in this field. This field is for reference only.
    10. Enter the User Code. This is a code assigned to the insurer by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and is necessary if you will be performing download with this insurer. Consult the insurer if you do not know this code.
    11. Select the day of the month that the insurer should be paid.
