Edit a Drip Campaign
Depending on a drip campaign’s status, different parts of it may be
available for editing:
- Draft or Scheduled:
You can edit any part of the campaign because it has never been sent.
Your changes are saved automatically. Adding a schedule to a drip
campaign in Draft status
changes its status to Scheduled.
Recipients will begin receiving campaign emails once the schedule
as started. See the Edit
a Draft or Scheduled Drip Campaign section for details on editing
drip campaigns in these statuses.
- Active or
Active (Draft): These campaigns have already started sending
to the recipients on the selected list(s). Use the Edit Campaign button to return an Active drip campaign to Active
(Draft) status and modify its campaign settings or email content.
You cannot add, delete, or rearrange emails in the campaign. You also
cannot edit the schedule. Instead, make a copy
of the campaign, configure the schedule, and delete the original.
If you make changes to an Active
(Draft) campaign, use the Publish
Changes button to apply them. See the Edit
an Active Drip Campaign section for details on editing drip campaigns
with this status.
- Completed:
These campaigns are no longer sending to recipients and cannot be
edited.
You can hide Active or Completed drip campaigns that
you no longer need to access regularly. Hiding drip campaigns removes
them from the default Campaigns
list, but you can display them by selecting the Show
Hidden checkbox. Click the Show
link to restore a hidden drip campaign to the default list. Hiding a drip
campaign does not affect any scheduled distributions.
If necessary, you can end an Active drip
campaign, either immediately (End Now)
or by sending the remaining emails to existing recipients only (Taper Off). See the End
Drip Campaign section for more information about these options.
See Campaigns for information about the
types of campaigns available.
Edit a Draft or Scheduled
Drip Campaign
Perform the following steps to edit a drip campaign with a Draft
or Scheduled status. You cannot
modify the delivery schedule of a Scheduled drip
campaign.
- Click Campaigns
or My
Campaigns in the navigation menu. If necessary, you can
sort or filter the list to help you locate a campaign:
- Enter a full or partial Campaign
Name and click the Filter button.
- Sort the Campaigns
by clicking on a column
heading. Click the column
heading again to reverse the sort order.
- Browse multiple pages of Campaigns by
clicking the First,
Previous,
Next,
Last,
or page
number links at the bottom of the page.
- To access the Drip
Campaign Builder page, click the Campaign Name in the list.
- From the Drip Campaign
Builder page, you can do any of the following:
- Before you start the drip
campaign, you can send a test email
to ensure that all content displays as intended.
Edit an Active
Drip Campaign
You cannot make as many kinds of changes to Active
drip campaigns as Draft or Scheduled drip campaigns. You can
temporarily pause an Active drip
campaign to edit its overall Campaign
Settings, Email Builder
settings, and existing email content for future recipients. The original
campaign continues to send emails to existing recipients until you publish
your changes. Only new recipients receive the edited campaign emails (emails
are not resent to recipients who have already received them).
Changes to Active drip campaigns
are not saved until you publish them. Depending on the changes you need
to make, it may be better to create a new drip campaign than to edit an
active one. Consider these limitations to guide your decision:
- An Active campaign’s schedule
cannot be modified.
- You cannot add or remove lists from an existing campaign.
- You cannot add additional emails or reorder existing emails on
an Active campaign.
- Once you publish changes to a campaign, you cannot undo them.
To edit the campaign settings or email content of an Active
drip campaign, do the following:
- Locate the campaign from the list on the Campaigns
or My Campaigns
page. If necessary, you can sort or filter the list to help you locate
a campaign:
- Enter a full or partial Campaign
Name and click the Filter
button.
- Sort the Campaigns
by clicking on a column
heading. Click the column
heading again to reverse the sort order.
- Browse multiple pages of Campaigns
by clicking the First,
Previous,
Next,
Last,
or page number
links at the bottom of the page.
- Click on the Campaign
Name to open it.
- On the Drip Campaign Details
page, click the Edit
Campaign button.
- The Edit Active Campaign
pop-up window displays. Click the Edit
button. None of your changes will be applied until you publish them.
- Make changes to any of the following:
- If you are using Dynamic Branding and Servicing, check for any
exceptions, which are problems that prevent certain contacts from
receiving campaign emails.
- Click the Continue
button to check for exceptions. The Exceptions
label on displays if exceptions exist.
- Click the link beside Exceptions
to view the contacts with exceptions and the reasons.
- Click the Export
to CSV button to export the exception list if necessary.
- To save your changes and apply them to campaign emails sent to
new recipients, click the Publish
Changes button. Your changes will only be sent to new recipients.
Edited emails are not resent to existing recipients. To discard your
changes and return to the campaign to its previous saved state, click
the Cancel
