Regional Settings Configuration

Use the settings in this area to determine the language and culture defaults for your Applied Epic system. If you do not configure these settings manually, they default based on your workstation’s Windows settings for Region and Language. However, any selections you make in Applied Epic that differ from the computer’s Windows settings will override them and serve as the system default. This is useful if you service clients in a country other than the country in which your organization is located, or if you work on different stations.

It is also possible to define region and language settings at the individual user level that override the system defaults. Use the Region and Language feature in User Options to specify country, language, and date/time format defaults for individual employees.

1. From the Home screen, do one of the following:
   • Click Configure on the navigation panel.
   • Click Areas > Configure on the menubar.
   • Click the down arrow next to Home on the options bar and select Configure.

   From any other area of the program, do one of the following:

   • Click the down arrow to the right of Home on the options bar and select Configure.
   • Click Home > Configure on the menubar.
2. The Configure screen displays. Click International on the navigation panel or Areas > International on the menubar.
3. Click Regional Settings on the navigation panel.

From here, you can modify the following settings:

• Currency Symbol

  The areas controlled by the currency symbol settings vary, depending on the way users access Applied Epic:

  • If users access Epic through a web browser such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge, the currency symbol settings you select apply to all areas in the system.
  • If Epic is installed locally on a user's computer, this setting determines the currency symbol that displays on checks, invoices, receipts for payment, reports, statements, and documents. All other currency symbols default based on the user's Windows Region and Language settings.

  1. Do one of the following:  
  • Highlight Currency Symbol and click the Edit button to the left of the list.
  • Double click Currency Symbol.
  2. Select a currency symbol from the Selection dropdown menu.
  3. Click Finish to save your changes or Cancel to discard them.
• Multilingual Reports

  This setting enables or disables the Language tab and other language layout options in Report Output Builder, Statement Layout Builder, Invoice Layout Builder, and Cheque Layout Builder. When it is enabled, reports, statements, invoices, and cheques will be generated using the recipient’s preferred language. If this setting is disabled, all reports will run with their specified enterprise's Primary Language. If no report layout exists for that language, the system will use the English (United States) layout, but the numbers will be formatted according to your enterprise’s Primary Language.

  1. Do one of the following: 
     • Highlight Multilingual Reports and click the Edit button  to the left of the list.
     • Double click Multilingual Reports.
  2. Select or deselect the Allow multiple languages for reports, checks, invoices, and statements checkbox. This checkbox is deselected by default.
  3. Click Finish to save your changes or Cancel to discard them.
• Output Date/Time Format

  These settings determine the way dates and times display and print on reports, cheques, invoices, receipts, and statements. They also determine the formatting of dates populated by merge variables on activities created by Download.

  1. Do one of the following:
     • Highlight Output Date/Time Format and click the Edit button to the left of the list.
     • Double click Output Date/Time Format.
  2. From the Date order dropdown menu, select the order in which you would like date components to display:
     • Month/Day/Year
     • Day/Month/Year
     • Year/Month/Day
  3. Select a Time notation setting:
     • 12 Hour Clock
     • 24 Hour Clock
  4. The sample dates and times displayed update based on the selections made in these fields. Review them to ensure that the settings are appropriate.
  5. Click Finish to save your changes or Cancel to discard them.
• Primary Country

  This selection determines the cultural settings that default in various areas of the system (for example, when you enter addresses). It also determines which country defaults on screens or fields that enable you to select from multiple countries.

  1. Do one of the following:
     • Highlight Primary Country and click the Edit button to the left of the list.
     • Double click Primary Country.
  2. Make a selection from the Primary Country dropdown menu:
     • Canada
     • United Kingdom
     • United States of America
  3. Click Finish to save your changes or Cancel to discard them.
• Primary Language

  This selection determines the language in which Applied Epic system screens will display.

  1. Do one of the following:
     • Highlight Primary Language and click the Edit button to the left of the list.
     • Double click Primary Language.
  2. Make a selection from the Primary Language dropdown menu:
     • English (Canada)
     • English (United Kingdom)
     • English (United States of America)
     • French (Canada)
  3. Click Finish to save your changes or Cancel to discard them.
