Conglomerate Customers

The Conglomerate Customer option is used to group Commercial Lines customers together. In a conglomerate, one customer must be set up as the main account, or Parent, and all others as subaccounts, or Children.

Note: You may also wish to set up a conglomerate for a Personal Lines client whose commercial business is also insured with you.

Once a conglomerate is defined, the Conglom field appears on the Customer Detail screen, just below the customer code. The Conglom field indicates that the Customer is part of a conglomerate and also the type of conglomerate account.

On the Customer Detail screen for a main account, Parent displays in the Conglom field.

Main account

On the Customer Detail screen for a subaccount, the Parent account code displays in the field.

Transactions and Policies

The agency determines if transactions and policies should be set up on the main account or the subaccounts. Keep in mind that it may be easier to track invoices if billing is set up through the customer who makes the payments.

Another factor to consider is that reports pull information based on where it is entered. For example, you may be able to group the main and subaccount transactions together on a report, but the report will not display transactions under the main account name if they were entered on the subaccount. Reports only group together main and subaccount items; they do not combine them or transfer balances.

Reports
