After completing quote information, confirm or update the Applicant and Co-Applicant selections. Enter as much risk detail as possible on the Quoting Session screen to obtain accurate carrier rates. You can complete the fields and tabs in any order and must enter some risk detail to obtain rated quotes. If your agency has enabled Data Prefill, you can use this capability to automatically populate driver or dwelling information in risk detail on a new quote or a quote for a remarketed policy.
The available fields and tabs vary, depending on the policy type you are quoting. As such, this article provides examples of the basic functionality for quoting sessions, rather than comprehensive step-by-step instructions for specific lines of business. Common risk details are documented in Applied Epic Basics. Risk details specifically related to the Quoting Session screen or to specific types of risks are documented below.
Some information and fields in risk detail display based on existing client information in the system (for example, the account’s Primary Contact defaults as the Applicant). Contact information only displays for contacts with the Policy category designation. Some fields display based on Quoting Defaults selections for the selected state and/or line of business in Quotes Setup.
Proper names in risk detail may be capitalized automatically, depending on the Auto Capitalization settings your organization has configured. For more information on how these settings are applied, see Applied Basics on Auto Capitalization.
If you are remarketing an existing policy, the information from the existing policy displays in the quote’s risk detail. You can edit this information or enter additional details if necessary.
If any carrier-specific questions exist for the state in which you are quoting, a Carrier Specific tab displays. Answer the questions on this tab to ensure that you receive the most competitive rates. Questions are grouped into sections by carrier, with questions common to multiple carriers in a Shared Carrier-Specific Questions section. You can collapse and expand the sections for easier viewing.
On the Select Applicants popup, ensure the correct Applicant and Co-Applicant information populates on your quote. The dropdown lists populate with all Contacts on the client account, the Applicant and Co-Applicant from the existing policy (if they do not match existing contacts or drivers), and all Drivers on the existing policy (for remarketed Auto quotes). You can leave either or both fields blank if necessary (for example, if there is no co-applicant or if you need to manually enter an applicant who does not display in the dropdown list). For remarket quotes, the Applicant and Co-Applicant on the existing policy display for reference.
If the information for Applicant and Co-Applicant are accurate, click Skip. If any information is incorrect, select a different Applicant and/or Co-Applicant from the dropdown list(s), then click Select Applicants.
Data Prefill enables you to quote quickly and accurately by pulling all available information about your contact (such as VIN, driver’s license number, or home heat system) into your quote. The Data Prefill workflow is the same for Home and Auto quotes, with a few differences regarding Applied Epic information (noted below).
The Data Prefill window displays automatically after you click Add in the Quote Information window for a new or remarketed quote. If you skipped Data Prefill, click the Click here to launch Data Prefill link label on the Dwelling, Drivers, or Vehicles tab.
The Start Data Prefill window displays the client’s Primary Contact information. If the Primary Contact information does not display, enter the information manually. After completing the quote, add any manually entered information to the contact details.
Note: Because agencies use a limited number of Data Prefill lookups, verify the insured’s information before starting the Data Prefill to ensure you are looking up information for the intended person. Click the Edit button to make any necessary updates.
To complete a Data Prefill Lookup for the quote, do the following:
You can include additional quotes in the same session (for example, if the client wants both a home and an auto quote). The information copied into the new quote depends on the option you select to add another quote and the line of business.
To add more quotes to the same session, do one of the following:
Once you have entered the Quote Information, risk details for the selected policy type displays. Click each tab to view or enter the information for that section. To navigate between tabs, click the Next and Back buttons at the bottom of the screen.
If you cannot complete the risk detail in one session and want to save
your work to complete later, click the View
All of Account’s Quotes link label. This saves your work and returns
you to the client’s Quotes list. When you
are ready to resume the quote, select it in the Quotes
list (where it will have a status of In
Progress) and click the Edit/View
button .
After you have completed risk detail, click the Get Quotes button to submit the quote for rating and proceed to the Quote Results screen.
Several types of requirement markers display in risk detail, and some individual fields may only be required for certain carriers. Tab-level markers indicate whether all required information has been entered on a tab:
A green bar displays when required fields contain a valid entry
.
Lists in risk detail validate the required field entries for each list item, and any list item that is missing required information displays in red.
Field-level requirement markers display as a red asterisk beside a field label:
Hover over the red asterisk to display the carriers that require an entry in the field, as individual carriers’ requirements may vary. When you submit the quote for rating, carriers requiring information you have not completed display Required Information Needed in place of a premium in the Quote Results list.
If you navigate away from a tab without completing a required field, the field is outlined in red and an exclamation point icon displays beside it:
Field-level requirements may update dynamically, and additional required fields may display based on other entries and selections you make in risk detail.
The following lookups are specific to Personal Auto quotes and unique to the Quoting Session screen. To learn more about other basic system controls, see Applied Epic Basics.
In the Add New Vehicle section of the Vehicle tab, you can locate a vehicle by VIN or by VIN Stub (if you have other information about the vehicle but not a complete VIN). If you used Data Prefill to populate vehicle information in risk detail, you do not need to run a VIN search as the VIN automatically populates.
If you know the vehicle’s VIN, do the following:
If you do not know the vehicle’s VIN, do the following:
Each address field (current, mailing, prior, and/or garage) on the Address tab contains a Validation
button, as these addresses require USPS validation for carriers to return
rates. If you used Data Prefill
to populate dwelling information in risk detail, Data
Prefill validates the address.
To enter and validate addresses, do the following:
In the Applicant and Driver sections for home and auto quotes, you can view and revise contact information on-the-fly for existing quotes to save time.
To view the contacts on the account and pull their data into the quote, do the following:
If you enter a co-applicant’s information in the Applicant fields on a quote, or a carrier provides a better rate for a different Applicant, you can swap this information between applicants. From the Applicant tab in the Applicant and Co-applicant section, click the Swap Applicants link label to move the Applicant’s information to the Co-Applicant fields or vice versa.
