Security Manager controls who can access TAM and which areas each person or group can access.
From the Home Base click Utilities.
On the Utility Manager screen, open the System Administrative folder in the treeview.
Select Security Manager.
Click the arrow to continue.
Tabs
The tabs on the right side of the screen show information and rights for a selected user or group. A tab is disabled if it does not apply to a user or group, and you must select a user or group before you can edit information.
User Account Tab
TheUser Account tab lets you change a user's information, e.g., user code user code , employee codes, write-off amounts, etc.
To edit a user's information, select the user, click the User Account tab, and change the information. Click Apply when you finish.
This tab contains the following fields:
Disable Account: Select this checkbox to turn off the account, which means the User Code cannot log into TAM. Disabling the account requires seven days before you can reactivate an account.
Password never expires: You can make passwords expire every so often. Select this checkbox to prevent the password on this account from expiring.
First Name: The user's first name.
Last Name: The user's last name.
User Code: Enter the code used to sign into TAM. This may be up to eight characters long, and it must be unique.
OPID (Operator ID): The operator ID identifies the user in certain areas of the system (e.g., on reports). It may be up to four characters long, and it must be unique. You must use the Rename Codes utility to change the OPID.
CSR Code: The CSR code identifies which user is responsible for a client. To enter a user as a CSR, you must add him or her in Define Field Defaults. This is a lookup field lookup field .
Producer Code: Associates this user code with a producer in the system. You must add the producer first. This is a lookup field lookup field .
Who Code: The Who code identifies the user on activities. This defaults as the OPID.
Write-off Rights (A/R and Co. Payables): This is the maximum amount the user may write off on an accounts receivable or company payable transaction.
Data Access (Live or Demo): Select if the user will access the live database (to do work) or the demo database (to practice).
User Mode (Expert or Novice): Select if the user will see labels on buttons in the system (Novice) or if the user will have more screen space without seeing button names (Expert).
Group Membership List: This list shows all the groups to which the user belongs. To add groups, use the Group Membership tab.
Group Account Tab
The Group Account tab displays information about a group. Select the group on the left and click the tab to review the information.
This tab contains the following fields:
Name: The name of the group.
Description: A brief description of what rights the group provides.
Displays current group members and allows for the addition of multiple users to the group. The following Group Membership information and options are available on this tab:
Add New Group: The Add New Group button launches the Add a Group workflow.
Delete Current Group: The Delete Current Group button is only available if a group is highlighted in the list.
Add New User: The Add New User button launches the Add a User workflow.
Delete Current User: The Delete Current User button is only available if a user is highlighted in the list.
Account Policy Editor: The Account Policy Editor button opens the Account Policy window. See Account Policy Editor for more information.
Grant Same As: The Grant Same As button opens the Grant Same As window, which allows you to copy another user's program access and group membership to the selected user.
Print User/Group Info: The Print User/Group Info button opens the TAM Security Printing window. See Print User or Group Rights for more information.
Change Current User's Password: The Change Current User's Password button is only available if a user is highlighted in the list.
Buttons
OK: Click OK to save changes and close Security Manager.
Cancel: Click Cancel to close Security Manager without saving changes.
Apply: Click Apply to save changes and continue working in Security Manager.
